Grave of Pete Kibble's Foot Milan, Missouri According to folklore, Pete Kibble was a local guy who lost his foot in a railroad accident. He had the foot buried in Oakwood Cemetery, under a marker that reads, "Pete Kibble's Foot 1917." It was intended as a placeholder, as Pete planned to join the foot when the rest of him died. But then Pete had a change of heart, and headed -- or hopped -- west to seek his fortune. He never returned, leaving only his foot's tombstone to mark his passing.
