someday I wanna go to Montana....

Bannack Ghost Town - Founded in 1862 and named after the local Bannock Indians, it was the site of a major gold discovery in 1862, and served as the capital of Montana Territory briefly in 1864, until the capital was moved to Virginia City. Bannack continued as a mining town, though with a dwindling population. The last residents left in the 1970s. At its peak, Bannack had a population of about ten thousand. Extremely remote, it was connected to the rest of the world only by the Montana Trail. There were three hotels, three bakeries, three blacksmith shops, two stables, two meat markets, a grocery store, a restaurant, a brewery, a billiard hall, and four saloons. Though all of the businesses were built of logs, some had decorative false fronts. Bannack's sheriff, Henry Plummer, was accused by some of secretly leading a ruthless band of road agents, with early accounts claiming that this gang was responsible for over a hundred murders in the Virginia City and Bannack gold fields and trails to Salt Lake City. However, because only eight deaths are historically documented, some modern historians have called into question the exact nature of Plummer's gang, while others deny the existence of the gang altogether. In any case, Plummer and two compatriots, both deputies, were hanged, without trial, at Bannack on January 10, 1864. A number of Plummer's associates were lynched and others banished on pain of death if they ever returned. Twenty-two individuals were accused, informally tried, and hanged by the Vigilance Committee (the Montana Vigilantes) of Bannack and Virginia City. Nathaniel Pitt Langford, the first superintendent of Yellowstone National Park, was a member of that vigilance committee. Sixty historic log and frame structures remain standing in Bannack, many quite well preserved; most can be explored. The site, now the Bannack Historic District, was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1961. The town is presently the site of Bannack State Park. Though not particularly popular among tourists, this site remains a favorite for natives and historians alike. Every year, during the third weekend of July, this abandoned town witnesses a historical reconstitution known as "Bannack Days". For two days, Bannack State Park officials organize an event which attempts to revive the times when Bannack was a boom town, re-enacting the day by day of the miners who lived there during the gold rush. An authentic, old-timey breakfast is served in the old Meade Hotel, a building of brick (well preserved) which was the for many years the seat of Beaverhead County , before Dillon, Montana became the seat of the county. The Bannack Town Site Hours: During the month of May, the Town Site is open from 8:00am until dusk. Memorial Day through Labor Day the Town Site is open from 8:00am to 9:00pm. From the first week of September until the third week of October the Town Site is open from 8:00am until dusk. From the third week of October through the end of April, the Town Site is open from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Opening Times: May through August, open on weekends 10:00am to 6:00pm. On weekends after Labor Day through October 31st, the Visitor Center will be open 11:00am to 5:00pm, depending on staff availability.

I'm curious to know if the old Cunningham House or this wonderful old tree stood first. Maybe the tree was planted after the house was built? Either way, I hope they both continue to stand proudly for many years to come. Located in Allamakee County, Iowa."

3 cups white vinegar
6 cups hot water
a container to mix it in
Mix the water, vinegar & conditioner together. I used my big pitcher, easy to mix in and easy to pour into another container
Make sure you stir it, don't shake it. It takes a few minutes of stirring until it is all mixed together. I just mixed it until there were no more conditioner clumps and it was a smooth consistency.
You can use a funnel to pour it into an empty fabric softener dispenser or any container you choose.
It is ready to go. Add about 1/4 cup to my fabric softener dispenser. Safe for HE washers.♥♥♥SHARE so you can find it on your timeline♥♥♥

Louisiana Crunch Cake

The Best Louisiana Crunch Cake Ever ~ Ingredients: 3 cups cake flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 2 cups granulated sugar 1 cup butter, softened 4 large eggs, room temperature 1/4 cup sour cream 1 cup buttermilk 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1/4 cup sweetened flaked coconut Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 Degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Sift together cake flour, salt, baking powder and soda. Set aside.
3. In a large separate bowl, beat butter until very fluffy (approx. 5 minuets) then add 2 cups of sugar. Continue to beat until light and fluffy (approx. 2 more minutes).
4. Beat in eggs, one at a time, making sure that each egg is thoroughly blended before adding the next egg.
5. Mix in sour cream and vanilla extract.
6. Blend in some of the dry ingredients followed by some of the buttermilk in alternates. This is a way to ensure that the ingredients are being thoroughly blended together -- For example; add dry mixture followed by buttermilk, dry mixture, buttermilk dry mixture -- so on and so forth -- DO NOT OVER BEAT OTHERWISE CAKE WILL BECOME HARD AS A BRICK ONCE FINISHED BAKING!
7. Grease a bundt cake pan. I used a non stick angle food spring formed tube pan. If you do not have a non stick pan, be sure to grease your pan and dust with flour! Add in 1/4 cup of sugar to the bottom of pan and about 3 inches up the sides, tapping the pan to ensure even distribution. Leave excess sugar in pan. Sprinkle coconut flakes to the bottom of the pan. Scrape batter into the bundt pan and spread evenly.
8. Bake for about 50 minutes to an hour or until a wooden skewer inserted comes out clean (if it comes out wet, bake another 10 minutes or so, if it comes out crumbly, you over baked the cake).
9. Let cake cool for about 10 minutes, then carefully remove from pan, making sure that the sugary coconut side is faced upward. Use a knife to scrape the sides if cake becomes stuck. (this step is very important otherwise your cake will continue to bake and will become very dry and completely stuck in the pan).
10. Drizzle glaze over the crunchy top portion of cake.
Vanilla Almond Glaze: 2 cups confectioners' sugar 1/4 cup butter, melted 1/4 cup evaporated milk 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon almond extract In a medium sized bowl mix all ingredients together until smooth. Add more milk for desired consistency. You may also use regular milk, but I must say that evaporated milk gives a WAY better taste! Drizzle over desired desserts. Ralls County, MO

Paranormal Investigation Teams "This spooky old plantation house was found by fotoroadtripr (James) and I while on a 2 day expedition for anything old. This was our most spectacular find. I have started to do some research about it without much luck on this specific building. It is in Ralls County, Missouri where in 1860 the population of enslaved African-Americans was 28% of the total population. The state average was 9.7%. Pike Co. was 4th in hemp production and 8th in tobacco, and 7th in slave ownership. Pike and Ralls Counties were included in "Little Dixie" the slave belt in Missouri. There is a stone building in back and that may have been slave quarters." - photo / description by Rodney Harvey

Gold Hill, Ore.

Vortex: Gold Hill, Ore. Said to be called "Forbidden Ground" by local Native American tribes, the Oregon Vortex has been studied extensively in the 20th century for its various optical illusions or for paranormal activity, as the case may be. Basically, spatial perspective is that buildings appearing to roll uphill, people's height changing depending on where they stand, which may be explained by something called a "forced perspective" The energy shown on EMF readers have many say that paranormal activity also has a hand in it. Some believe it to be a vortex between our world and the spirit world.

to do this fall.....

never waste a rose again!

This is crazy crazy !! Never waste cut roses Did you know that you can grow roses from cuttings? Simply cut healthy stems, place them in large potatoes, and them bury them 3-4 inches deep in a healthy soil mixture of peet moss and top soil. The potatoes keep the stems moist and help develop the root systems. It's a perfectly simple way to multiply your rose garden without spending lots of $$$.

a picture in a jar.....

. I stole this from a friend and thought is looked like an amazing idea to try!!! DIY vintage mason jar This looks amazing and it's super easy to make, just follow 3 simple steps!!
supplies needed: •Quart sized mason jar with lid (I used a mixture of new and old jars from the 70's) •Black and white 4x6 picture trimmed to fit. (I printed mine at my local Walgreens) •Vegetable oil •Dried flowers (optional)
1.) Insert your picture into the mason jar and pour enough vegetable oil to cover completely.
2.) Put some dried flowers on the opposite side of the picture. I chose lavender, essential oil anyone? Yum, it smelled good!
3.) Tighten the lid up and it's done! The vegetable oil will suspend the picture inside the jar without penetrating it, causing it to look aged and slightly transparent. A total vintage look of old yellowed pictures from the past.
